Skot Olsen - Fish Tales
The sea captain in this painting has a lot of stories to tell. Even though his days of whaling are over, he still remembers the good old days with his tattoos. The tattoo on his chest commemorates the sinking of the Essex, the actual event that Herman Melville based Moby Dick on. The other tattoos show strange creatures he has seen during a life at sea. He sits on a pile of weird things he has pulled up in his nets and traps from the bottom of the sea.
